24-inch Full HD or 27-inch QHD for studying and coding?

Compare usable workspace, text size, desk fit and connection requirements before paying for a larger monitor.

A larger screen and more workspace are different things

The diagonal tells you physical size. Resolution tells you how many pixels are available. Enlarging a 1920 × 1080 image onto a larger screen does not create additional pixels for a second document. Moving to 2560 × 1440 increases the pixel count, but the practical workspace also depends on the text scaling you find comfortable.

The arithmetic is useful: Full HD contains 2,073,600 pixels and QHD contains 3,686,400, approximately 78% more. That is a pixel-count calculation, not a productivity improvement claim. If you increase interface scaling, some of the extra space goes toward larger text rather than more content. Try your normal browser and editor layout before deciding what you gain.

Choose around the documents you keep open

Dell's P2425H provides a documented 23.8-inch Full HD example, while the S2725DS provides a 27-inch QHD example. Both manufacturer pages list adjustable stands. They are reference models for understanding this decision, not a verified best-price shortlist: Dell's pages currently show unavailability messaging, and we have not established Amazon inventory. Do not substitute a similar model suffix without checking the specifications again.

Check the whole signal path

Write down the output available on your laptop and the input available on the monitor. Then check the resolution and refresh rate supported by that particular connection and any adapter. A connector that physically fits is not sufficient evidence that every display mode will work. USB-C also needs careful verification: do not assume every USB-C port carries video or charges a laptop.

An inexpensive display can become less attractive if it requires additional equipment to connect. Conversely, paying for a docking feature you will never use adds little value. Compare the complete desk setup at the resolution you intend to run, not a feature that only works on a different computer.

Measure the desk before comparing discounts

Use the manufacturer's dimensions to mark the screen width and stand depth on your desk. Leave space for the keyboard, mouse and any notebook you actually use. Check whether the height adjustment places the screen where you want it; a stand that looks small in a photograph may occupy more of your writing area than expected. We are not making an ergonomic or medical guarantee.

For ordinary coursework, our priority order is readable text, compatible connection, usable stand and sufficient workspace. Gaming refresh-rate claims and speaker features can be secondary unless they are part of your actual use. We have not measured these monitors' image quality or reliability.

Before placing an order

Confirm the exact model, included cable, seller warranty and pixel-defect/return conditions. Ask whether an advertised USB connection is an upstream hub connection, downstream data port or video input; those serve different purposes. If the only suitable offer is out of stock, keep the decision criteria and compare another exact model rather than buying a less suitable screen just to finish the setup. Choose the screen that supports the way you arrange your work, not the largest diagonal within reach.
